Conservation and/or restoration of ancient buildings, especially of those belonging to cultural heritage, calls for an increasingly high level of knowledge of the behaviour of elements and structures built in the past, that have to be checked against the current requirements, especially from the structural point of view.
Normally the available know how as far as wooden parts are concerned stem from the forestry sector, making so awkward the relationship between customers (usually architects, structural engineers and building contractors) and the professional responsible for the investigations.
The mission of
Dilegno is to utilise the knowledge contributed by the partners, both with engineering technical backgrounds, in order to implement a new system of investigation mainly in the highly sensitive phase of interpretation of the data provided by the instrumentation currently available.
Along these lines
Dilegno offers services for the diagnostics of wooden structures, with special reference to in situ investigations : tests are foreseen to be carried with instruments such as Resistograph Ò, Sylvatest Ò, moisture meters, and by means of subjective observations on wooden elements both structural and not structural.
